Intercultural Dialogue Institute – Ottawa

Purpose:

The primary purpose of the centre is to provide job training and academic services directly to ethnic populations within the community. As well, the institute will focus on promoting dialogue and cohesiveness between ethnic and cultural communities in the Kanata and greater Ottawa region.
The benefits of this centre will be felt with new Canadians and youth who directly take part in the programming. New Canadians will be able to develop strong occupational and communication skills, allowing them to have a better transition into the workforce. As well, there are programs directed at youth and their skill development. These programs will benefit youth by enriching their talents and providing them with a safe and secure place to interact with others.

Benefits:
Removing some of the obstacles to employment will create a stronger workforce in the area. Employers will be provided with better trained and qualified employees to work for them. Further, because of the institute’s focus on improving multiculturalism, the area will benefit from increased understanding and consideration between cultures.

Legacy:
The purpose of the Intercultural Dialogue Centre is to become a place where people from the community gather to learn and improve their skills. The lasting impact of this centre will be new immigrants being able to overcome the obstacles quickly that are present in their everyday lives and specifically in entering the workforce. We are hopeful that the legacy of this centre will result in a large group of involved community members who were able to better themselves and those around them through their education at the centre.
